SciVal Analytics Unit
The SciVal® Analytics Unit is a group of consultative professionals who deliver analytical reports and services for the specific needs of decision makers within research and government institutions.
We offer standardized reports that apply commonly used bibliometric analyses, or we can work with you to define a report that is tailored to your specific needs. Our analytics reports and services can make use of data from Scopus®, SciVal solutions, and data of your own.

In order to provide the best solution, the SciVal Analytics Unit takes a consultative approach to understand your information needs.
Identify analytics needs
-
Your local sales team will be your first point of contact. They will collaborate with you initially to identify basic challenges and suggest potential metrics such as:
- Requested analyses, conceptual/metric level
- Number of years of analysis
- Benchmark comparisons (e.g. peer institutes, regions, countries, world)
- Delivery time you are expecting
- How you plan to use the delivered report
- Other items as applicable
Recommend solution
- Together with the sales team, the SciVal Analytics Unit will recommend a study and include information about approximate delivery time and pricing.
Draft statement of work
- Once the deliverables and price have been agreed upon, the SciVal Analytics Unit will draft a Statement of Work (SOW). The SOW will include specifics about the deliverables, pricing, and timing.
- Once the SOW is signed, the SciVal Analytics Unit will start working on the report.
Delivery
- The report will be delivered within the time-frame stated in the SOW.
Note: The parts of this process flow may repeat or alternate depending on the complexity of each case.
What exactly is an analytics report?
Analytics reports use bibliometric indicators, as well as other metrics, to make research quality and performance information more visible. There are many metrics that can be used in a report, and we work with you to identify the best choices based on your data needs.
What types of analytics reports are available?
There are several standard reports with default parameters and pricing. Reports can also be created on a custom basis, tailored around your specific needs.
What kind of content can be used to generate analytics reports?
The primary data source for our report is Scopus®. Based on your needs we can also make use of data from SciVal solutions, such as SciVal Spotlight and SciVal Funding as well as usage data from SciVerse® Scopus® or SciVerse® ScienceDirect®. Some reports may also utilize external data sources such as OECD or EUROSTAT.
In what format are the analytics reports delivered?
The reports can be delivered in Excel and PDF format.
How does pricing work for custom reports?
Pricing depends on the scope and complexity of the report. The first step is to clarify specifically which analyses are required.
How does the process around the analytics reports work?
